They already have terrible service timeframes without being anEV so this threat is making me nervous. I will say that I have 12k on vehicle and this is my first issue. the only time I have been at the dealer before now, was to rotate my tires. attached is the OnStar snip of the diagnosis if anyone has some insight.
For the interior use this:I have the 2024 HUMMER SUV EV. Does anyone have a good recommendation of a product to clean and potentially shine the running boards?
I got a 3X as a loaner (that was the only option they had) when I put my truck in the shop for repair. I didn’t want to give it back when my truck repair was complete. 2 months later I traded in truck for a Hummer EV. Most fun I’ve ever had driving a truck. I’ll be bummed if they decide to move away from producing these wonderful vehicles.Okay, I'll start this off with the admission that I've never been the biggest GMC fan in the world....going way back to the snapping "wine glass stem" turn signal levers on 70s and 80s GMs.
That being said, I have suddenly found myself rather attracted to a Hummer EV 3X, and while I'm generally a petrol-head, there is a lot about the Hummer EV that appeals to me.
Range anxiety isn't a huge issue for me, as my commute is maybe 40 miles each way, and I generally don't take long road trips. The Ranger Raptor is fun (with Ford Performance tune on it), and not bad on fuel (1 year of ownership has me averaging 14.6L / 100 km (16 MPG) in a mix of city and highway, and I'm generally pretty hard on the throttle. My big complaints about the Ranger Raptor is that it's small inside (I'm 6'3"), so the driver's seat is always all the way back, and there isn't a ton of room in the back seat for any reasonably sized (or larger) adults. If you're over 6', the back seat is pretty cramped.
Also, the Ranger seems to have endless software bugs.....front parking / collision sensors go wonky even with nothing around, and I get notifications on My Ford app telling me that remote start capabilities are limited because the battery is apparently low, even if the vehicle is just sitting in my garage (this was during winter). Ford is aware of these issues, but has no resolution.
Apple CarPlay has been occasionally hit and miss; I have two cells, one for work, one for personal, and often CarPlay won't allow either to connect, forcing a reset of the whole Sync 4 system.
Previous truck was a RAM 2500 Longhorn Limited with the Cummins, and that was a fantastic truck, but I no longer needed to tow as much. The Ranger, however, is limited to 5,510 lbs, which won't even tow a decent travel trailer.
So size (externally) isn't a huge issue for me, though I doubt the Hummer would fit into my garage. Which isn't a major concern, the RAM 2500 didn't either.
Long diatribe over tl;dr. My major questions would be these: What is the day to day living experience with the Hummer EV as your sole vehicle like? Any major hardware or software issues to be prepared to deal with (obviously the vehicle is under warranty, but I'd hate to have GM tell me that parts aren't available for 6 months!)?
Is the Hummer EV a decent, fun, daily driver / commute vehicle, or is it something that you'd only have as 1 of two (or more) vehicles in a household?
