I bought my Hummer EV SUV in March, started using it in June. I charge at home using a ChargePoint Home Flex NEMA 14-50 on a brand new 50A breaker @ 40A. All of April was absolutely fine, no problems unless I blasted the amps in the next room; big power draw. I was told that i could save money by switching over my ComEd service to hourly billing, so I did. The very day I started the hourly plan my charger started tripping the breaker. Tried the following with negative results:
  • Reinitialized Flex
  • Reduced power to 36A
  • Used GM 32A mobile charger
  • Reset all circuits
  • Ran Flex with all other breakers off
Don’t know what they did to disable me, but I bet it has something to do with the dumb SmartGrid. Now I can’t charge for more than 5-10 min before it shuts off. Any suggestions?
