I installed the console safe from GM and it took 5 minutes. Remove two bolts at bottom of console, drop safe in, reinstall bolts through bottom of safe.

I wanted this so I can store my $700 radar detector when I park somewhere, especially with the roof panels removed.

The only issue I have is the small numbers are hard to read.

Nice! I'm glad they make the install easy. Too bad they don't offer one with a finger print lock.

Just so happens that I had the fingerprint safe from Amazon ordered when I saw this post. I’m happy to report that it works great. I can get into it in less than 3 seconds. There is a hole in the back wall of the safe so the console light can shine into the safe when it is dark. Mounting the safe required 4 screws (provided) through 2 pre drilled holes in the sides instead of the GMC provided 2 screws in the bottom.

Looks good! Thanks for posting feedback on it.

Other details: the small black circle on top of the safe is the fingerprint scanner (it functions very well) it uses 2 AAA batteries to work the unlocking mechanism, there is a hidden key hole hidden underneath the black cover on the lock/unlock knob (2 keys included) in case the batteries fail, and there is a low battery warning light. I feel a fingerprint lock is more secure than a numerical lock when children are around. When I bought it, this safe was about $100 less than the one in the GMC app store.
