Extract mode

I can use some advice. I can’t seem to get my truck in extract mode. I switch to terrain mode, and the truck goes right back to normal mode. In fact, no matter what mode I shift to, it immediately shifts to normal. Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
