Does anyone know if the increased towing capacity on the 2026 model—from 8,500 to 10,600 lbs—is due to a software update or if there are hardware upgrades involved as well?

I’m currently deciding between the new 2026 truck and a well-priced 2024 model that’s been sitting on the lot. We're buying this to tow a travel trailer, and the higher towing capacity of the 2026 is making me reconsider the 2024.

I would be interested in knowing as well. Are you looking at the 2x or 3x?

What model/brand of travel trailer are you considering?

It would be interesting to see what made that change possible. Apparently, the 26's also fully support V2H charging. not sure if all the 2025's already do this. I read somewhere that V2H charging is possible on some of the late 25's with an update from the dealer. Hard to know.

As for a travel trailer, I have a 27' Airstream. It tows nicely with my current SUV, but the extra weight of the Hummer would make towing that much nicer.
