I used to have a Tesla before getting my 2025 Hummer, and I switched my home charger from the Tesla Wall Charger to the Tesla Universal Wall Charger. I’ve always kept my charging at 80%. I set the MYGMC app to 80% and the Hummer display to 80%. I have a strange routine where I fly out of town and leave my Hummer parked in my garage, plugged in, for a month or more. It stays plugged in and at 80%. Occasionally, I wake up and find my Hummer is charged to 95-98%. It’s happened about four times. Of course, GM is blaming the Tesla Universal Charger, but I’m not convinced.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? I have a theory that the battery might be entering Conditioning/Protection routines and overriding the charge limit. This whole situation is just strange because I’ll go for four or more weeks at 80% and then suddenly it jumps to 95-98%. Plus, it’s really annoying.
I don’t use a charging schedule because it’s not needed where I live, as we have a fixed rate and 25 solar panels on our house, so it’s not relevant for me and my lifestyle. I’m not buying what GM is saying. Anyway, I’m curious if anyone else is having the same issues.
