Hello everyone, we drove up here for the kids ski week from San Diego thinking I’d be able to grab a charger no problem but the Tesla chargers don’t have an adapter that connects to my 2025 Hummer EV truck is there anyone locally who has one of these adapters.? As you know, we are currently in a snowstorm so getting delivery on an adapter like this is gonna be next impossible though I did order one it hasn’t left Redlands California yet from Home Depot. interesting story there. We ended up leaving down the mountain on 17 miles of charge, realizing we were going downhill the whole way, ended up with 48 miles of charge by the time we made it to Cosco at those new charging stations and did the rapid charge. We ordered the Tesla adapter so this doesn't happen again. My advice: get the adapter and don't panic if you have a decent to make it you will add charge lol.

So 17 was the left over calculation after going up the mountain, and was it recalculating during your decent? Or were you just staring at 17 the whole time hoping for the best? I’m just trying to understand the difference. Like it gives you 17 assuming you’re going to continue uphill, even thought you stopped and didn’t drive for a while?

i used the charging brake the whole way down the mountain for stops/slow downs and it added 30 miles of charge to my total charge distance estimate. point is, even in a longer trip like this was 40 miles we ended up net positive on the charge because we were going downhill the entire way and that was something I did not consider when panicking about our lack of available chargers in Big Bear. Same holds true on the scenic route to Palm Springs, we added miles of charge going to from San Diego because of the descent. hope that makes sense.

Yes definitely does. I guess on longer trips I’d just have to figure out a way to estimate downhill mileage. I wasn’t aware that the hummer has a “charging brake”, only the one pedal drive gas and brake. Is the charging brake a feature you can choose to turn on and off? Does it essentially use the brake to put charge back into the battery? My buddy has a new F150 hybrid that does that. I think my neighbors Tesla plad does that also.

yep. it's a lever on the left side of the steering column you can use to brake using the electric motors, not the brakes obviously. I need to check and see if it actually activates the brake lights because that thought occurred to me, it could be dangerous if no. you cannot turn this feature on and off, you either use it or don't to assist with stopping. It reminds me of the Jake brake I had in my motorhome/RV though, and is fun to use, kind of habit forming as my wife also uses it when she drives the hummer and we both reach for it in our other cars when driving and it's not there lol, so kind of habit to use it for some reason. even in my corvette i catch myself looking for my charging brake and of course it's not there.

Oh that’s really cool. In my corvette I find myself always reaching for a stick downshift with when I brake, but only paddle shifters now lol
